HEART

istock image

The cardiologist asks
“Does it hurt?”
“No” I say not knowing
how to describe the
weight and ache.
Veins and arteries branch
heavy and bark covered
from my core, like limbs.
My hands go numb when I drive.
My hips ache at night.
The dark center of my trunk
is warm and hollow
where a nightingale
sings on her nest.

Another great poem Cindy. I hope you are okay. I know what you mean. I have all kinds of new aches and pains. Oh the joy of aging😁

Thank you Suze. Aging is not for the faint of heart as they say.
I am doing well. Doctors all give me a good review (for 77)!
